Get ready, Duck Dynasty fans … The Robertson family is making a musical! With a wildly successful reality show, book deals coming out of their ears and too many product lines to count, this seems like a fitting next step.
The Duck Commander Family Musical will open in Las Vegas “some time soon.” It will be based on Willie Robertson’s book, The Robertson Family. “We’ve enjoyed the process of making a musical alongside the team who is interested in telling the Robertson family story from an outside perspective,” said the Duck Commander CEO. The Robertson clan is working with a Broadway producer and a composer, who is assuring the public that the music won’t just be all “chicken-pickin’ stuff and banjos.”
Of course, the trolls have already come out to criticize the Robertson family’s newest endeavor, before it has even been released. Several gay and liberal Broadway producers are “aghast” that their colleagues would work with the Christian folks. “Gay rights leaders are also eyeing the show with concern,” reported Mediaite. For his part, the producer has stated that “the show will end up challenging the views and assumptions of people across the political spectrum, more than most theater does.”
Even with all of the haters, the Robertsons and their team will be laughing all the way to the bank when The Duck Commander Family Musical comes out. Everything the family touches turns to gold, from beach towels emblazoned with the bearded men to Miss Kay’s cookbook, and there is no indication that this will be any different.
