Massive Incest Ring Uncovered In Alabama

May 2012, Alabama.  A single mom is reported missing after the uncle she was supposed to be with is found shot in the head in a vehicle. Brittany Wood is that young mother who has not been seen or heard from since. Her daughter Payton was 2 at the time. Her uncle, Donnie Holland was under investigation at the time for sex crimes. His death was ruled a suicide. The gun recovered from the vehicle belonged to Brittany. Also in the vehicle was the battery for Brittany’s cell phone.

Since 2012, eight members of the missing girl’s family have been charged with multiple felonies in two Alabama counties. Incestuous “orgies” involving children between the ages of 6 and 13 were uncovered during the course of the investigation. Brittany herself was the victim of molestation at the hands of her step-grandfather who went to jail for the crime. Holland, the uncle with whom Brittany was traveling, was the alleged leader of the sexual abuse “ring”, as it were.

Though no trace of Wood has been found since May of 2012, she is presumed dead. Two of her uncles and her older brother have entered guilty pleas related to sex charges. Chessie Wood, Brittany’s mother, and two of her aunts are currently awaiting trial.

Evidence seems to suggest that the abuse is a generations long issue in this family. Further, the incest was allegedly reported years before Wood’s disappearance and family members, including her step-mother, wonder if Brittany would be alive today if authorities had acted on the first accusations. According to authorities, a number of family members have been repeatedly accused without any actual charges or penalties.

The number of child victims is actually unknown as each investigation seems to uncover a further level of abuse in this case. Estimates of up to 16 children, all of whom have been placed in foster car, may be victims of this perverse family. Though Brittany is not alleged to be the victim in any of the pending cases, her disappearance was the impetus that drove sufficient investigation of this family to uncover these horrible crimes.

It is suspected that 3 generations of two families are involved in sexual abuse and even trading children for sex. Those two families were merged when “uncle” Donnie Holland married Wendy Wood. Wendy is the sister of the missing teen’s mother. Drugs, abuse, and sexual depravity seem to be a family tradition that did not escape Brittany’s life. She was reportedly a drug user who carried a gun and she became a mother at 17.

Just days before Wood’s disappearance, private social media messages indicate accusations of rape of a female by three male relatives May 27. Authorities are horrified by this case and one Sheriff even stated, “I don’t even have a word for this family.” At least the generational curse of sexual abuse appears to have been broken. It is just too bad a 19 year old’s death was required to blow the lid of their behavior.
