During an appearance at the Adoption Institute’s Angels in Adoption Gala in Washington D.C., Willie and Korie Robertson revealed that they plan to expand their brood of five children. The couple already has one adopted son, as well as a 24-year-old foster daughter, but they say there’s room for at least one more.
The Robertsons have a 24-year-old foster daughter named Rebecca.
Willie said at the event:
“There are plenty of kids who need homes. That’s why we’re all here. We have adopted children and we have natural children … and there’s no difference between them.”
Willie addressed the crowd regarding the adoption of his 11-year-old son, Will, which almost never happened for financial reasons. The couple didn’t have the money to pay for Will’s adoption fee when they picked him up. “We said, ‘We’re good for it – we’ll come back,’” Willie revealed. “We’ve [since] paid it, by the way.”
The star of Duck Dynasty added:
“I’ve done a lot of things in the past couple of years. I’ve met presidents and been all over the world. But I still say the best decision we ever made and that had the biggest impact on our lives was the adoption of our son, Will.”
Sadie Robertson embraces her 11-year-old adopted brother, Will.
Outspoken about their conservative Christian values, Willie and Korie have long been champions of adoption. Korie said:
“From the moment we found out about him, he was ours. I swear, I had labor pains the night before I went and picked him up at the foster home he was living at. He’s our child, just like our biological children. We are proud to … use the platform we have with Duck Dynasty to talk other people into bringing children into their homes.”
With a booming duck call business, a hit reality TV show and a lucrative merchandising empire, it’s a wonder these two love birds even have time to think about adopting another child! Show them your support in the comments section!
