Attorneys for Michael Brown’s family maintain that the Browns do not condone any sort of violence in their son’s name, but …
Police are investigating an incident of assault and theft after a Saturday argument erupted among Brown’s family members over the right to sell t-shirts on the corner of Canfield and West Florissant Avenues, just blocks from where the 18-year-old died. Keepin’ it classy!
Adding to the hypocrisy, Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, said in a recent statement that she does not want her son’s memory to be used in conjunction with any self-serving business or political actions. Could she have been referring to the insensitive Democrats who erected booths amidst the Ferguson protests to register voters?
On October 18, Mike Brown’s Grandmother, Pearlie Gordon, along with Brown’s Cousin, Tony Petty, were selling t-shirts and other Michael Brown merchandise in the parking lot of Red’s BBQ. Around 8:15pm, McSpadden drove by, along with a car full of her piers. She exited the vehicle and shouted, “You can’t sell this shit!”
Not about to let their lucrative little business take a hit, one of the relatives selling the merchandise demanded that McSpadden produce a patent proving she had the sole right to sell products emblazoned with her son’s name. That’s when matters turned violent.
An unidentified individual with McSpadden began assaulting Petty with a metal rod, striking him in the face. 911 was called and the victim was taken to Christian Northeast Hospital, but not before McSpadden’s pal made off with an armful of merchandise and a box of cash believed to contain about $1,400. Looks like I’m in the wrong business!
The brawl was captured by surveillance cameras and will be used in the police investigation.
Clearly, Brown’s entire family is milking every last dime they can out of his death, and they have the police reports to prove it. For some reason I can’t stop humming Elvis’ “In The Ghetto”…
