Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen are trying to turn over a new leaf this week as they launched their 24/7 radio station.
“Joel Osteen Radio” launched on Monday at SiriusXM Headquarters in New York City. Both the Osteens attended the launch and answered questions from fans and reporters alike. They revealed that the channel will feature faith-based programming including sermons and religious events.
Victoria and Joel are also trying something new: live programming that will allow them to interact with their listeners.
“It’s nice that it’s a different side of us, because most of our other stuff is very prepared,” Osteen told The Blaze on Monday. ”I hope they’ll get a chance to see just that [we’re] real and that there’s humor and fun.”
Victoria also appeared excited about the radio station, though she admitted that it will be a challenge.
“It’s a stretch for us. This is an opportunity that came and it’s a stretch,” she said. “It’s something that we haven’t done before and I hope it says something to [show] people that we are real.”
Joel will have a show every Monday evening that will feature candid conversations about everything from faith to sports. Victoria will also have her own show, airing every Wednesday at noon, which will focus on everyday issues.
“We want to take our message of hope and inspiration to a new audience,” Osteen said. ”I’m trying to reach people outside the church walls.”
With all the focus on the Islamic State in the last few weeks, the Osteens expressed their hopes that their radio station will help people turn back to God.
