The bodies of three Israeli teens kidnapped in June were found July 1, 2014. Two Hamas operatives claimed responsibility for the heinous act that reportedly sparked the latest hostilities between Israel and the occupants of Gaza.
It appears the murderers of the Israeli trio were in hiding and planning an attempt to cross into Jordan when special forces from Israel surrounded their location and demanded they come forward. The forces were fired upon and in returning fire, killed Marwan Kawasmeh and Amar Abu-Eisha. Saving the Israeli government from a long and expensive public trial may not have been their goal, but it is the outcome nonetheless.
Unfortunately, the two men will be added to the death tolls in this ongoing conflict. Plans for negotiations next month in Egypt may have been inadvertently impacted by these events and Hamas coming to the table is now in question.
