47-year-old Alan Henning was seen paraded in the latest video of the Islamic State’s brutal beheadings. The video of British aid worker David Haines’ death was preceded by two others showing the beheadings of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff. ISIS has made a habit of publicizing the identity of the hostage they plan to behead next, and Henning appears to be the latest target.

Henning, a taxi driver from Manchester, was in the midst of his final trip to Syria to aid those affected by the conflict, when he was captured by ISIS militants and subsequently held hostage. His wife had begged him not to make that last trip to the region, but her pleas fell on deaf ears, as Henning was committed to making a difference in the Middle East.

Last month, Henning’s sister, Gillian Kenyon, posted a touching Twitter message to the captured aid worker. She promised that the family would throw a birthday party for him upon his safe return to Britain. “Happy 47th Birthday to my little bro Gadget/Alan Henning. can’t wait to have a party on your return. Love you bro xx,” she wrote.

A fellow aid worker revealed what happened during the moments when a band of jihadists targeted a convoy which Henning was a part of in January. “[The militants] were speaking English because no one on the convoy spoke Arabic. They were a mixture of Libyans and Algerians and they gave Alan a hard time because he was not a Muslim,” said Henning’s colleague.

The father of two had embarked on his last trip to the Middle East in Decmeber, just weeks before being captured by ISIS.

Special forces and intelligence officers are now working furiously to locate Henning, before he becomes another victim of Jihadi John’s knife. They are utilizing voice recognition software in attempts to locate the British member of ISIS, knowing that if they find him, Henning will be near by.
