Ted Cruz Cuts Speech Short, Marches Off Stage In Support Of Israel

Ted Cruz isn’t the kind of man that regularly walks away from a fight, but after a select few decided to disrupt a Christian event with loud “boos,” he abruptly vacated the area. While speaking at an event which was aimed at being a voice for Christians in the Middle East, Cruz was met with a little “bigotry” after expressing his support of America’s strongest ally – Israel.

Now normally, in an event like this, Cruz is right at home speaking in support of God and the importance it has both as a nation and individually. Although this right is often condemned to the point of execution in certain areas, Cruz initially began by saying that Christians should have the right to worship God no matter where they are.

It wasn’t long before he turned his keynote speech at a Washington D.C. dinner gala to that of Israel and the constant attacks they’re under due to the Muslim extremist ideology that consumes the Hamas organization. Surprisingly however, it appears that not everyone was exactly on the same page as Cruz and they proceeded to let him know just that.

According to The Daily Caller:

Cruz…began by saying that “tonight, we are all united in defense of Christians. Tonight, we are all united in defense of Jews. Tonight, we are all united in defense of people of good faith, who are standing together against those who would persecute and murder those who dare disagree with their religious teachings.”

“Christians have no greater ally than Israel,” he said, at which point members of the crowd began to yell “stop it” and booed him.

After realizing that sense was not about to be spoken into those obnoxiously speaking over him, he eventually said, “If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews, then I will not stand with you.” Cruz can then be seen on video turning around and marching off the stage where he was then said to leave the building entirely.

Breitbart later reached out to Cruz for a statement in which he replied:

“Tonight, in Washington, should have been a night of unity as we came together for the inaugural event for a group that calls itself ‘In Defense of Christians.’ Instead, it unfortunately deteriorated into a shameful display of bigotry and hatred,” Cruz said in a statement provided to Breitbart News. “When I spoke in strong support of Israel and the Jewish people, who are being persecuted and murdered by the same vicious terrorists who are also slaughtering Christians, many Christians in the audience applauded.  But, sadly, a vocal and angry minority of attendees at the conference tried to shout down my expression of solidarity with Israel.”

As many wonder exactly why Christians would boo, of all people, Ted Cruz, the Daily Caller attempts to provide a bit of insight:

Many Christians in the Middle East take issue with Israeli military policy, which has made life for Palestinian Christians in their homeland very difficult, and driven many from their homes. “Israel’s policies have led to demographic pressure that’s made the West Bank and Gaza far more Muslim than in 1948,” explained one Middle East analyst.
