Michelle Obama Gets A New Job

Apparently there just aren’t enough fun things to do around the White House as Michelle Obama has found herself so bored that she went out and got herself a new job. Probably after getting a lecture from the guys in PR (public relations) about the frequency of her tax-payer funded luxury vacations, she’s now picked up a position with Upworthy.

The site promotes that of progressive ideology that designs specific causes in which they feel they can make a difference to further and influence young minds. Michelle has since been deemed the site’s latest “guest curator,” and was announced via the White House blog.

According to the post, “As part of her Reach Higher initiative, the First Lady will share videos and other content to inspire America’s young people to take charge of their future.” Upworthy, in an email, further noted that the duties of Michelle would consist of writing the short blurbs introducing a video that will be posted to the site.

She will not however, “be composing the meticulously-worded and emotionally-manipulative headlines that the site has popularized,” as reported by Mediaite.

Her first post, although not titled by herself, was headlined, “I Really Hope The Parents Of These People Get To See What They Said Here. They’d Probably Cry,” and consisted of a video showing first generation students attending college and the importance it played in their lives.

Here’s why Michelle, in her own words, found this video pertinent:

“Because our young people need to know that no matter where you come from or how much money your family has, you can succeed in college, and get your degree, and then go on to build a better life for yourself.”

Brace yourselves, there’s a lot more where this came from.
