There is perhaps no greater demographic that knows the importance of firearm ownership among Americans than law enforcement personnel. Saying that guns shouldn’t be in the hands of criminals or “bad guys,” he went on to say that if Obama tries to take guns from law abiding citizens, he’s going to get a civil war.
The bold remarks come from Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis of Maryland where he has recently assured those abiding in his country that the Second Amendment will not be violated so long as he is sheriff. He even went so far as to say that if Obama were to, in any way, try and completely disarm the American people, that the current administration would have a civil war on its hands.
“I can tell you this,” Lewis said, “if they attempt to do that, it will be an all-out civil war. No question about it.”
“I made a vow and a commitment,” Lewis conveyed. “As long as I am sheriff of this county, I will not allow the federal government to come in here and strip my citizens of the right to bear arms.” Further adding on to the importance of keeping guns out of the hands of the right people (felons), he also added, “[W]e do not need to strip law abiding citizens of their Second Amendment right to bear arms. That I get upset over. I really do.”
Some would argue that the most important of all amendments is the First, but they’d be wrong. After all, it is the Second that allows for the people to protect all other rights in any way they must, even if that means through the blood of tyrants.
