Many have been left wondering how things will play out for Tony Stewart since he hit and killed fellow driver, Kevin Ward Jr., on a small dirt track in Canandaigua, NY. Despite the potential criminal charges he may face, his career has come under a bit of questioning where, until now, Stewart fans have been left in the dark.
According to Hollywood Life, sources close to the NASCAR star have stated that he’s seriously contemplating retirement. “He has already been talked out of ending his career on a couple of occasions,” the source said. “He has been going back and forth with just ending everything but currently has been talked into just canceling select races and trying to work out his mental state.”
Apparently Stewart is extremely distraught over the events of that night and has been handling the situation, “day by day,” ever since. The famous driver has remained under the radar since killing Ward, leaving the public wondering and the news to die down as speculation fizzles.
“He is really going through a lot and not sure when he will return to race,” the source further stated. “It is a day by day decision that could still end in never returning.”
Since the death of Ward, Stewart has backed out of at least 4 races – one dirt track race and three official NASCAR races. As he continues to work through his emotions over the matter, one could only assume that an announcement, made personally by Stewart, is on the horizon.
