A video has surfaced showing the real-life dangers police patrolling the streets of Ferguson are facing as they were recently greeted with live rounds whizzing through the air in their direction. All caught on tape, journalists ran for cover as soon as the sound of guns being fired rang throughout the community.

Police are currently being condemned for their militarization, but the video recently released only shows exactly why they’ve rolled out their more sophisticated equipment. Just like our boys are being shot at over in Afghanistan, so are our police officers here in the states proving ample reasoning why they would want to wear body armor and drive around in MRAPs (armored vehicles).

According to the agency that released the clip, Sure News:

I was going to say how scary it is and how right people are for talking about the militarization of our police forces and how this sort of response seems unnecessary.

Then they started to take actual live fire and they put themselves in harm’s way instead of hunkering down behind that truck or hitting the ground they checked on the civilians and then rushed them out of there. They didn’t light up the night, they didn’t respond with hundreds of rounds, they took cover and acted like police.

What are your thoughts on this – are police who are trying to keep the peace in Ferguson too militarized? Or does being shot at provide ample reasoning to dress in body armor? Feel free to let us know in the comments below.
