A group of University of Alabama sorority girls are under fire this week after posting a picture of themselves that many say is racist.
One girl posted a picture of herself with two of her sorority sisters, along with the caption “Chi O go n*****!!!!”
According to The Daily Mail, the girl who posted the picture on Snapchat has since been kicked out of the sorority. The Chi Omega sorority immediately released a statement on Facebook condemning the picture.
“What was expressed is absolutely reprehensible and completely inconsistent with Chi Omega’s values and policies,” said the organization’s post. “Chi Omega took swift disciplinary action in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.”
The University of Alabama chapter also made a point of saying they had a diverse group of girls in their sorority, including two black girls.
The girls who posted the picture claim that “n*****” was actually an autocorrect from the word “ninjas,” which is a common term in the sorority rush process.
“These so-called “ninjas” are, after how Alabama rush works, a sorority gets stuck with girl that weren’t their top picks. The reason these dumb, non proofreading chi o’s were so happy was that they got a “perfect pledge class” this rush season,” read an anonymous post.
“Now, don’t get me wrong, being a part of the alabama greek system there is a tradition of racism, but it stems from alumni in sororities not usually the actives.”
What do you think? Did these girls get the punishment they deserved, or are they a victim of PC paranoia? Let us know in the comments below!
