Outrage: Town Plans To Change Name Of ‘Kennedy Center’ To THIS

The Township Council of Willingboro New Jersey has elected to change the name of one of their popular centers from the ‘Kennedy Center’ to the ‘President Barack Obama Center’. Barf.

The JFK shopping center is well-known by residents. There is also a school in the vicinity, which will be renamed as well.

The town’s leadership plans to make the change despite the fact that most of it’s residents are very much against it. “I graduated from JFK back in ’72 so it’s gonna be kinda hard to all of a sudden start calling the school Obama. I just don’t really see the need to change the name at this point,” longtime Willingboro resident Al said.

The Kennedy Center is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation. Perhaps the town council thought it appropriate to rename the center which they are spending so much money on after the king of spending money.

Residents of Willingboro have Deputy Mayor Jacqueline Jennings to thank for this, as it was her idea to change the name of the Kennedy Center to the Obama Center. She said:

“I think that people have a sense of pride about him. . . . We had so many new people register to vote, people who had never voted before, people who were disenfranchised. All of a sudden, we had maybe 8,000 people register to vote. We had lines . . . people wrapping around the buildings when the polls opened. It was a sense of history, everybody wanted to be a part of it.”

Social media blew up when the announcement was made that 40 years of history was about to go up in smoke.

Barack Obama has already had an endless number of landmarks named after him and there will undoubtedly be many more to come. There is absolutely no reason that places which are already named after another President should be renamed in his honor.
