Despite the Obama Administration’s best efforts to put a lid on the press, there are still a few journalists who refuse to have their voices silenced. At a recent press conference, ABC News chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl proved that he’s one of them.
Karl called the President out for slamming George W. Bush when he was campaigning for the presidency. In case you missed it, Obama once accused Bush of abusing the powers of the executive branch and bypassing Congress. At this point, those claims almost make you laugh out loud. Karl questioned Obama:
“When you were running for president, you said, ‘The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and that’s what I intend to reverse.’ So my question to you, has Congress’ inability to do anything significant given you a green light to push the limits of executive power, even a duty to do so?
Or put another way, does it bother you more to be accused of being an imperial president pushing those limits or to be accused of being a do-nothing president who couldn’t get anything done because he faced dysfunctional Congress?”

BOOM! Thank you, Jonathan Karl for calling Obama on his rampant hypocrisy! ABC News, give that man a raise.
Karl’s question was worded in a way such as not to make Obama completely explode while at the podium, but the President has probably already instructed the IRS to audit the poor guy. Just the thought of Obama leaving the press conference in a fit of rage is enough to make my day.
Barry’s response to Karl’s question was absurd, as usual:
“I’m bound by the Constitution. I’m bound by separation of powers. There’s some things we can’t do. Congress has the power of the purse, for example. What I am consistently going to do, is wherever I have the legal authorities to make progress on behalf of middle class Americans and folks working to get in the middle class … I’m going to seize those opportunities and that’s what I think the American people expect me to do.”

Obama constantly harps on the fact that if Congress would work with him, he wouldn’t have to do all of the naughty little things he does. He’d much rather do things the legal way, he says. But he’s not going to sit around and wait while middle class Americans are suffering, he says.
The issue here is not that Congress does not want to work to reach compromises; it’s that Obama’s ‘my way or the highway’ prerogative makes compromise virtually impossible.
A perfect example of this is Obama’s proposed fix for the immigration system. He wants to spend an unGodly amount of tax-payer money, which would only serve to increase the mounting national debt, and just a tiny fraction of it would go to actually securing the border. Clearly, Republicans in Congress are opposed to that. In fact, many Democrats have turned on their golden boy and have put their foot down when it comes to immigration. Though Congress would very much like to work with the President to make some headway on immigration, he is the one who will not compromise. He threatens to institute amnesty through executive order like a whiny toddler when he doesn’t get his way.
