In a video that surely could have been exponentially more catastrophic, a soldier was recently able to escape the grasp of death despite rolling over an IED.
As it turns out, the soldier was driving a mine roller – a vehicle with an attachment out from designed to seek out and intentionally detonate IED’s. The purpose is to clear a path in which a convey is going to be traveling on shortly thereafter.
When detonation occurs, it will most likely total the vehicle, but because the explosions happens out in front of the vehicle, rather than underneath, the driver is usually spared.
