Obama Admin To Troops: Don’t Eat Or Drink In Front Of Muslims

The lengths that the Obama Administration will go to accommodate Muslims is sickening. The most recent barf-worthy example of this is an email that was sent to active duty military personnel last month, just before the start of Ramadan.

The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences is a Department of Defense medical and graduate school in Bethesda, Md. Brigade Commander Col. Kevin Glasz sent the following email to the facility’s personnel:

“This is a period of great personal restraint and commitment in addition to renewed focus on worship. I’d like to encourage you to learn just a little more about this religion, but more importantly, I’m asking you to be considerate and do not consume food or drink in front of our Muslim colleagues; it is a simple, yet respectful action.”

Glasz also conveniently provided a link to a website where his subordinates could learn more about the Muslim faith, particularly Ramadan.

One Marine, who was a recipient of this ridiculous email but wished to remain anonymous, commented:

“I respect the intention behind this email, but note that there is no similar call honoring other faiths. There is no similar invitation for non-Jewish colleagues to refrain from eating leavened products during Passover, or non-Christian colleagues to refrain from eating meat during Lent. Our veterans have sacrificed too much blood, sweat and tears to have their own rights and freedoms be sacrificed on the altar of progressive political correctness.”

Indeed. Imagine you had spent nine months away from your family during a deployment in Afghanistan. During that time, you saw some horrific injustices brought to women and children at the hands of Muslim radicals all in the name of the “religion of peace”. I’ll be damned if you’d welcome an email upon your return requesting that you pay special attention to those who you consume food and drink around, lest they be Muslims fasting during Ramadan. The very last thing you’d be willing to do would be to read up on the lovely religion of Islam.

Another individual, who studies at USU, commented:

“It could be construed as an order and one that violates the First Amendment freedom of everyone who received it. This is an appalling violation, especially coming on the heels of so many instances where those of conservative Christian faith in the military are vilified. I think that if there were emails about other faith traditions, this email wouldn’t have been so offensive. Islam appears to have a protected status while Christians are increasingly vilified.”

Meanwhile, Stars and Stripes has reported that troops in Bahrain were briefed on the proper way to dress when off base. Servicewomen were told to wear shirts which covered their elbows and pants or skirts which reached to below the knees. Servicemen were advised to wear long-sleeved shirts. The military also spent a substantial amount of time and money educating troops on Islam, the lunar calendar and Ramadan customs.

Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, says it’s not unusual for the Pentagon to conduct briefings on the cultural norms of a specific region were U.S. soldiers are stationed. What does seem to be specific to the Obama Administration is the fact that the Muslim faith is given special attention while the Christian faith is continually persecuted.

Crews stated:

“There is a good biblical word for this: hypocrisy. Our troops are being told to respect the Muslim Ramadan and encouraged to say ‘Ramadan Kareem,’ while at the same time they cannot have a cross on chapels, display a manger scene or say ‘Merry Christmas’ for fear of offending. There is something wrong with this picture. Of course we want to respect the faith of others, but should we be encouraging our folks to participate in the Muslim faith in this way?”

So far the University has not responded to requests for a comment. Hopefully, that’s because they have their tail between their legs after this egregious lapse in judgment.

Say what you want about George W. Bush, but one thing is for sure, he would never have allowed this attack on Christians whilst the Muslim faith is given every convenience. What do you think of this report? Is it hard to stomach? Let us know in the comments section!
