Hypocrisy: Democrat Who Cosponsored Bush Impeachment Bill Claims It Never Happened

Texas representative Sheila Jackson-Lee gave a speech to the House on Wednesday that ended up exposing her liberal hypocrisy. According to The Daily Caller, Jackson-Lee was speaking against a Republican-backed measure to sue Obama for going overboard in implementing Obamacare. Just a few years ago, she cosponsored a similar measure against Bush, but now that her boy Barack is in trouble she’s all about respecting presidential authority!

“I ask my colleagues to oppose this resolution for it is in fact a veiled attempt for impeachment and it undermines the law that allows a president to do his job,” Jackson-Lee said on Wednesday.

“A historical fact that President Bush pushed this nation into a war that had little to do with apprehending terrorists. We did not seek an impeachment of President Bush, because as an executive, he had his authority. President Obama has the authority.”

Either Jackson-Lee has a very short memory or she’s blatantly lying, because she did indeed fight to impeach Bush. In 2008, a former Ohio representative Dennis Kucinich proposed a bill entitled ”Impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors.”

11 Democrats co-sponsored it, including Jackson-Lee. You can’t really get any more “pro-impeachment” than that…

The 2008 bill sought to sue the president based off of war crimes and for making a false case for war against Iraq. Though she is outspoken about respecting presidential authority today, back then Jackson-Lee was vocally against it.

“We should not be intimidated by the process or time,” she said in 2008 before she urged the House to impeach Bush.

The House may have been inspired by this quote when they voted to sue Obama by a vote of 225-201 on Wednesday. I guess Jackson-Lee has no choice but to cry in the corner with her Liberal pals, because this is happening!
