John Boehner’s lawsuit against Obama is about to become much more that just a threat, as House Republican’s are expected to formally approve it this week. The Speaker of the House wrote in an op-ed published today:
“President Obama has overstepped his constitutional authority — and it is the responsibility of the House of Representatives to defend the Constitution.”
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest dismissed the lawsuit with a laughable statement last week:
“We see House Republicans giddy about the prospect of passing legislation along party-line vote to pursue a taxpayer-funded lawsuit against the president of the United States merely for doing his job. That is an indication that House Republicans don’t have a clue about the priorities of the American people.”
Perhaps Earnest isn’t familiar with recent public opinion that Obama should be held accountable for his illegal actions. He should start preparing his statement for when Republicans approve their lawsuit, because Obama is going to be in a world of hurt.
Cries for impeachment have fallen on deaf ears, as Obama has surrounded himself with individuals who solely do his bidding and would never allow the Senate to hold him accountable for his rampant abuse of power. By drafting a lawsuit, Republicans have found a way around these nasty Democrats who block Obama from being impeached.
Instead of taking the lawsuit seriously, Democrats are using it as a strategy to shamelessly beg for more fundraising dollars. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee wrote in an email to supporters this weekend:
“Boehner’s lawsuit could lead to impeachment hearings. There’s no doubt now: the fate of Obama’s presidency is at stake. We need to throw everything we’ve got at this. The vote to sue President Obama on the House floor is THIS WEEK. Will you help us hit our $2 million RED ALERT goal before midnight tonight?”
They’re starting to look more desperate than a hooker on a Tuesday, wouldn’t you say?
