There are American heroes from every corner of this great country who deserve to be honored. Some have given life and limb to protect our freedoms and liberties. Others are everyday heroes who spend their time in service to needy children or the elderly. These unsung heroes deserve to be recognized, but instead, the liberal community is still harping on the death of Trayvon Martin because he is their poster child for gun violence and racial hate crime.

On Saturday, 200 Trayvon Martin die-hards flooded the streets of Los Angeles to mark the one year anniversary of George Zimmerman being acquitted of his murder. The event, which was slated as the first annual Trayvon Martin Day, was organized by the Trayvon Martin Foundation. It even drew an appearance from Kobe Bryant, who spoke at a forum after the rally.

Bryant told attendees that athletes like himself need to use their notoriety to give voice to issues like the Trayvon Martin case. He was met by resounding applause after stating:

“Our responsibility is more than putting a ball in a basket, but giving them the platform to voice these inspirations.”

The media’s portrayal of Martin directly after his death and during George Zimmerman’s trial was biased, to put it lightly. But many people were able to see through the smoke and mirrors where Martin was painted as an innocent, upstanding young citizen. Many of those people remain miffed.

As Martin supporters rioted in the streets of LA, a woman from Arkansas was arrested for threatening two young boys whom she said needed “to be treated like Trayvon Martin”. The boys had thrown trash on the stairs in front of her apartment. When the woman called police to report the incident, she claimed the boys “did not deserve to live in the apartments and they should be in prison because they were black.” She is now saying that the police fabricated the report.

A year after Martin’s death, his killer, George Zimmerman was acquitted. A year after that, we now have the first annual Trayvon Martin Day. What will they come up with next year? I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see. One thing is for sure though, it’s bound be another disgusting form of race-baiting at the hands of liberals shamelessly pushing their tired agenda.
