Teetering on the brink of tyranny, if Obama has proven one thing, it’s that almost nothing can stand in his way of doing whatever he pleases. Signing yet another unconstitutional executive order, Obama is set to make it illegal for Christian companies to turn away gay potential employees based on their sexual preference – even if it violates their First Amendment rights.
Now of course, Congress will more than likely do little about this fact – thus their 6% approval rating – and despite religious groups having asked for an exemption, Obama declined. According to The Daily News:
The order will allow some exemptions for religious groups that are federal contractors but not as much flexibility as the groups had wanted.
A religious organization would be barred from making hiring decisions based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
In effect the dagger Obama is seeking to thrust into the heart of Christianity is two-sided. First, he is forcing the hands of Christians to not only go against their religion by essentially supporting homosexuals (i.e. hiring and monetary compensation) but then you are forcing them to go one step further.
According to Professor Cathleen Kaveny of Boston College:
It is when a requirement is perceived as backing the church into a corner, as mandating that it approve of same-sex relations, that the conflicts will start. So a likely flash point will be a requirement to provide health benefits to same-sex married couples.
As we’ve seen with the recent Hobby Lobby ruling, owners of a company cannot be compelled to violate their religious rights, nor does the government have the right to demand they do. In yet another act proving Obama cares for nothing more than looking good in the public spotlight – a notion in which he’s failed greatly – the lawlessness of his office is still, for some reason, allowed to continue.
Knowing what Obama is now trying to do for the 3% (gays) of Americans over the 77% (Christians), what are your thoughts on how our Commander-in-Chief think a Democracy works?
