62-Yr-Old Woman Marries 9-Yr-Old Boy For Second Time, Causes Worldwide Outrage

Today, society seems to have been numbed to the extent where not too many things are shocking any longer. One such story, regarding the second wedding between a 62-year-old woman, and a 9-year-old boy however, sure has raised a few eyebrows.

Meet Saneie Masilela, 9, and Helen Shabangu, 62 ladies and gentlemen.

The two were just wed for the second time during the past few weeks where the 9-year-old boy became the world’s youngest groom for his second consecutive year. Apparently the wedding is more about the couple’s South African heritage in which tradition dictates such an act to please their ancestors.

Seeing how the two were married for tradition’s sake, they do not live together nor do they have sex with one another. The two merely committed the sacred act once more as, according to their culture, their vows are only official after the ritual has been completed at both participant’s houses.

Although the two, as well as the 100 guests who were invited and attended, are extremely happy, the rest of the village is disgusted and have even gone so far as to say the whole thing was, “sickening.” According to Helen, “After the wedding last year people keep asking them question like will they live together, sleep together, have babies but I keep telling them that after the wedding everything went back to normal – nothing changed.”

Furthermore, Seneie explains, “I told my mother that I wanted to get married because I really did want to. I’m happy that I married Helen – but I will go to school and study hard. When I’m older I will marry a lady my own age. I chose Helen because I love her and, although we don’t live together all the time, we meet at the dumping site where my mother works regularly.”

So what do you guys think – should traditions like this be allowed to continue? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
