Showing just how dangerous social media can be when the community guidelines aren’t being followed, a 12-year-old boy was recently discovered to have been involved with a 36-year-old woman. Apparently the two met online through Facebook where the woman groomed him for sex and eventually met up with him to complete the act.
It all started with a friend request from Joy Leaann McCall that the relationship began in which McCall began to implement her plan. At first the messages between the two were innocent in nature but slowly developed into something more until one day, McCall was sending photos of herself in her underwear to the boy.
She then arranged to meet the boy at a local Ocala, Florida shopping mall where they reportedly had sex in the back seat of McCall’s car. A mere 5 days later, McCall contacted the boy again seeking to set up yet another meet and did so eventually driving him to a secluded wooded area.
They had sex another two times in the back seat of her car in the woods before the boy eventually confided in a friend while at church. He then went and told his mother where she was said to go through his phone to view the series of highly inappropriate text and picture messages before ultimately calling the police.
According to Sergeant Angy Scroble, “She (the boy’s mother) was able to see through the different text messaging that had occurred between McCall and the juvenile. And determine the dates that the incidents had occurred.” She has since been brought up on charges of lewd or lascivious battery on a child between 12 and 15 and was sentenced to 10 years for each count.
Luckily for her, the judge ruled that her sentences would run concurrently.
