The CEO of a prominent Oregon-based tech company has found himself at the center of an investigation regarding allegations that he repeatedly raped his ex-girlfriend and even videoed some of the attacks.
40-year-old Scott Kveton’s former girlfriend is accusing him of crossing the line multiple times and has turned over quite a few emails and text messages that detailed their complicated physical relationship that was similar to those found in the erotic thriller “50 Shades of Grey.”
The 34-year-old woman, who had remained unnamed, detailed to police how she and the CEO of Portland-based Urban Airship engaged in sexual role playing and would push each other’s buttons frequently. However in multiple emails and texts, she accused him of taking it too far.
The focus of the investigation is surrounding events that occurred in 2012 and 2013, however the woman had reached out to police previously in 2010 and 2011 accusing Kveton of sexual abuse.
Chat room messages and texts indicate that their relationship was anything but stable. In some of the messages he alludes to the fact that he may have actually recorded their sexual encounters without her permission, while others discuss sex games he had with women that he met online and making trips to a Portland area swinger’s club.
According to his accuser, Kveton met her online in 2008 and they had an on-and-off relationship for the next five years before permanently ending it in 2013. When they first met they were both married to other people, and she was actually employed as his family’s nanny for a period of time.
The first accusation of sexual assault against Kveton was in February of 2010, when his accuser told police that he had raped her while she slept on the couch at his home after passing out drunk. Following the assault, Kveton sent her multiple emails apologizing for what happened and asking for forgiveness.
“Believe me, the concept of not having you in my life absolutely and utterly makes my heart ache,” he wrote. . “… and I can’t believe how I treated you the other night … I just felt so betrayed and hurt that night with all of the things you were saying … that doesn’t justify it whatsoever … I’m just hurt and for some reason I took it out on you in that awful way.”
In other messages he suggested that he may have actually recorded the rape on video, which caused the woman to get a restraining order against him. The order would eventually be lifted, and the two went back to where they had left off.
Roughly a year after she claims she was raped, the woman contacted police again and said that Kveton had ambushed her in a closet then wrapped her up with a bear hug. After that, she said that he dragged her into a bedroom and bound her wrists so she couldn’t move.
Kveton hasn’t been charged yet, however police are now investigating three other similar incidents that the woman claims to have happened in 2012 and 2013.
