On June 26, the non-profit organization Evolve released a shocking video that’s intended to stress parent’s responsibility in keeping guns secure in their homes. The 30-second clip features children playing with sex toys that they found in the home to illustrate that kids will play with whatever they find – either a gun or a sex toy.
The video shows two mothers talking on the porch when their sons run behind them having a sword fight with their mother’s sex toys that weren’t properly stored in the home. The children then run into the front yard and continue their fight while a male voice speaks, saying “If they find it, they’ll play with it.
The video ends with a close-up of the boys playing with the toys and the narrator says, “So always lock up your guns.”
According to Breitbart, the co-founder of Evolve, Rebecca Bond, said:
“Our PSA is humorous, but the message is serious. Parents need to take ownership of safety in the house. If you don’t want kids to play with it, put it away–it’s up to you to keep your stuff locked up. We’re using humor to cut through political correctness and deliver a simple message. Americans can have a serious conversation about firearm safety that doesn’t devolve into a political abyss.”
Do you think this was a clever way to spread the message of gun safety in the home or was it an over-the-top stunt?
