As the crisis in Iraq currently rages on, many are beginning to become increasingly nervous regarding the potential of a Muslim extremist group taking over an entire nation. As that reality seems to inch closer and closer, one American Colonel has recently been forced to recall a moment he had with the terrorist group’s leader.
As we’ve reported recently, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – the leader of the group responsible for the atrocities in Iraq – was released back in 2009 from Camp Bucca by none other than Obama himself. At the time of his release, Army Col. Kenneth King explains that al-Baghdadi looked him in the eye and boldly claimed, “I’ll see you guys in New York.”
Now that the recent surge of Muslim extremists have taken several Iraqi strongholds and continue to march onward, King has been thinking quite a bit about the eerie instance. At the time, King notes that he simply shrugged it off, “Like, ‘This is no big thing, I’ll see you on the block.’”
He furthermore expressed his outrage over the entire matter saying, “We spent how many missions and how many soldiers were put at risk when we caught this guy and we just released him.” Perhaps even more shocking to this claim was the fact that al-Baghdadi more recently claimed, “soon we will be in direct confrontation,” with America.
What do you guys think – is this a man we should be taking seriously? Let us know your thoughts on his claims in the comments below.
