According to reports, two fourth graders from Brooklyn were arrested for allegedly trying to poison their teacher.

The incident occurred Monday at Public School 315 in Flatbush, where two boys aged 9 and 12 are alleged to have put “a substance consistent with rat poisoning” in the teacher’s water bottle. She then drank the water and became nauseous, however she was treated and is recovering now.

The unidentified teacher notified police after the parents of two other students told the school that their children saw the boys putting something in her water bottle.

Police are currently analyzing the contents of the water bottle to see what exactly the substance was that made the teacher sick.

The boys have now been charged as juveniles with attempted assault, reckless endangerment, amd criminal possession of a weapon.

A third grade teacher at the school said that she also believes she was almost poisoned three weeks ago. However when she told administrators at the school they failed to investigate the incident and nothing was done.

The Department of Education released a statement regarding the incident:

“We are greatly relieved that the teacher is recovering and we continue to closely monitor this situation. Ensuring the safety of our entire schools community is our priority and while this matter is still under investigation, we will take swift and appropriate action.”
