A Virginia teen by the name of Clare was forced to leave her prom for the creepiest of reasons, the fathers who were there kept eyeballing the 17-year-old while she danced.
Clare wrote a scathing blog post about the incident at Richmond Homeschool Prom, detailing a night that should have been fun but instead turned into a nightmare for her and her friends.
In her post she recalled how she was looking forward to the prom and that she became especially excited once she found the “perfect” dress. But even before she made it into the venue organizers stopped her and told her “Honey, that dress is too short,” she claimed.
After being able to prove that it was permissible by showing security that it fell below her fingertips she was allowed in.
“When I got into the ballroom I laughed, because I was surrounded by girls in much shorter dresses then me,” Clare said.
After a little while she said that she was talking with her friends and prom date, swaying to the music, when they noticed a group of fathers standing on the balcony staring at them, which creeped her out.
“We were also a little grossed out by all the dads on the balcony above the dance floor, ogling and talking amongst themselves,” she said.
Right around that time one of the other chaperones approached the teen and asked if they could speak in private.
“[She] told me that some of the dads who were chaperoning had complained that my dancing was too provocative, and that I was going to cause the young men at the prom to think impure thoughts,” Clare claimed.
However Clare tried to tell the woman that she and her friends weren’t even dancing, but the lady told her again that her dress was too short and that she was going to have to leave, even though her friends had intervened to come to her defense. The chaperone didn’t seem to care though, and told her friends and prom date that it was “none of their business.”
While being escorted out of the prom, crying, Clare said that she asked the security guard what he thought of the situation. He told her that he didn’t think she had done anything wrong but unfortunately it wasn’t his call.
“We walked out of the prom, frustrated and angry and feeling very disrespected and violated,” Clare said.
She also explained that she and her friends had all asked for refunds of the $25 admission fee since they had only been there for a half hour or less. However to date none of them had received it.
Even though the administrators are standing behind their decision to ruin the teen’s prom, Clare posted a follow-up video saying that she’s sticking behind her story.
“When the lady kicked me out, they said the dads had complained about my dancing and that meant that they had to have been watching me,” Clare said.
