According to reports, Obama has hired a new, high-priced defense attorney as the official White House counsel.
There’s no question that the heat is being applied to Obama and his administration with the Select Committee for Benghazi being formed and recent revelations with the IRS scandal tying the White House to the heart of it, so perhaps this is a preemptive move by Obama to give himself as much protection as possible.
In April, Obama quietly hired Neil Eggleston as the new counsel for the White House. Here’s why that’s important:
According to the White House Dossier, “Eggleston is the kind of guy you go to when someone tells you, ‘time to lawyer up.’ He’s a veteran at cleaning up ethics messes for politicians, most notably Bill Clinton, whom he aided during the Whitewater probes and the Monica Lewinsky affair, double entendre intended.”
Further, Eggleston represented Rahm Emmanuel when he was involved with the scandal that landed disgraced governor Rod Blagojevich in jail, as well as other prominent political figured when they were involved in scandals. Two of which worked for Bill Clinton during his tenure as president and were investigated on corruption charges.
With Obama hiring such a prominent attorney one has to wonder what exactly he’s preparing for. Generally speaking, the innocent don’t hire lawyers like this guy if there’s nothing for them to fear.
With several prominent groups calling for his impeachment, Ted Cruz creating a list of reasons to impeach him, and his involvement with the major scandals that have rocked his administration, maybe it is a good idea for him to have a lawyer, wouldn’t you say?
