A little boy in Bakersfield, California was out for a leisurely ride on his bicycle in the driveway of his home when out of nowhere a stray dog came up from behind and attacked him. Fortunately for him, their family pet wasn’t in the mood to put up with an ornery canine.
What is their family pet? A feisty feline, of course.
The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday and was captured on the family’s surveillance cameras from various angles.
The video shows the boy riding around his driveway on a small bicycle with the dog on the other side of the family’s vehicle on the prowl. Once it saw the boy on the other side of the truck it wandered over to him then viciously pulled him of the bike and to the ground.
Then out of nowhere the family’s cat, Tara, charged into action and pounced on the dog, scaring him enough to release the boy and start running with the cat in pursuit. Tara continued o chase the dog until she was sure he was gone.
The boy escaped with only stitches, as the video shows but it could have been far worse if it weren’t for the cat’s actions.
“My cat defends my son during a vicious dog attack and runs the dog off before he can do additional damage. Thankfully, my son is fine!” Roger Triantafilo said.
Thankfully indeed, we’ve all seen what can happen to children when dogs turn on them, and there’s no reason to believe that had it not been for Tara this boy would have been seriously injured.
Do you think they give out medals to pets for heroism? If so, this cat definitely deserves one.
