Jon Stewart usually loves to rip into conservatives, so when he goes after one of his own it’s fun to watch. Last night on the Daily Show he did just that and went after Nevada Democrat Harry Reid, and boy did he nail it.
The main subject of the segment was how Harry Reid has waged war on the Koch brothers for their massive spending on politics while actually sticking up for a casino mogul in his state who does the same.
Sheldon Adelson owns the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, which is the largest casino enterprise in America, and spent $90 million on Republican candidates in the 2012 presidential election alone.
“Isn’t it hypocritical for Harry Reid to draw a distinction between Sheldon Adelson’s money and the Koch brothers?” Stewart asked his correspondent Jason Jones.
“No,” Jones replied, then said that the answer is “pretty self-evident.” Adelson’s money in Nevada helps Reid and the Koch brothers’ money does not.
Stewart, obviously taken back by Jones explanation asked “So what is corruption?”
“Corruption is a billionaire who spends their money on sh*t you don’t like,” Jones said, and free speech is “a billionaire who spends money on sh*t you do like.”
Sounds about right for Dirty Harry, wouldn’t you say? Let us know with a comment!
