Those that wish to hop on the spotlight train have certainly become a bit bolder in the recent weeks as the likes of Bundy and Sterling have mustered up a courage like never before. Those seeking attention however seem to be taking advantage of the situation and have taken to going so far as to label the Tea Party as a racist organization.
Most recently leading the charge is Rep. Charles B. Rangel who took advantage of the hour long Congressional Black Caucus’ holding of the house floor. During that time, he inaccurately labeled Republicans and Tea Partiers as those that fought to keep slaves during the civil war.
Likening the area in which the Tea Party is most popular to the south, Rangel expressed that this effectively means they’re racists. His argument is a little less than solid as he tries to make the connection that slave owners primarily lived in the south during the times of the Civil war.
According to Rangel:
[In] some parts of the United States of America they don’t believe that the Union won. The reason I come to that conclusion is that … I have never seen so many Confederate flags that represent groups that are proud of the fact that they call themselves the Tea Party,” the New York Democrat said during his 10-minute floor speech, referring to an event he attended with President Ulysses S. Grant’s great-great-grandson. “They’re from that part of the country that the states owned slaves.
Perhaps the 84-year-old should go back to High School history class where he would be quick to learn that it was the Republican party that fought so hard to free blacks back then. It’s really quite a wonder why blacks are so eager to point the finger and label Republicans as racists when our mission has been the same from the start – to fight for complete equality no matter the race.
Instead blacks feel entitled to lean upon the suffering of their ancestors in sort of ignorant justification where they feel like America owes them something. This leg up they feel so strongly about is racism in its truest form.
I’m pretty sure that if you look up “racism” in the dictionary is describes it as effectively benefiting one race over another. Try and take this bias away however, and this is where the right becomes known as wishful slave owners.
