Showing the separation between where Obama’s elitist personality holds himself compared to the rest of us schmucks, the Commander-in-Chief pulled yet another hypocritical stunt. Just hours after denying a girl who had been waiting for hours the chance for a selfie, he proceeded to take one with the Malaysian prime minister.
Mika Taylor, 13, along with a group of her friends from the U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, waited for hours just to get a glimpse of the highly esteemed leader. Taylor however, didn’t just want a snap of the man as he walked by; she actually wanted a selfie – an idea, she’d later have to suffer without.
Taylor was standing up against the barricade with a sign that read, “MR. PRESIDENT MAY A [sic] HAVE A SELFIE WITH YOU?” Of course, as the elitist snob caught wind of the sign, he rejected the girls request reasoning that if he did it with her, he’d have to do it with everyone.
Instead, he told her, “Just take a picture of me as I’m going by.”
Within the same day, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak posted a pic of a selfie he took with none other than Barack Obama. Sharing the photo on Twitter, the caption read, “My selfie with President Obama !”
You’d think that after all the trouble Obama has had with every single one of the selfies he’s taken, that he’d know by now to just leave well enough alone. Of course, as Obama has always done what he wanted despite the outward disapproval of the public, I suppose we shouldn’t expect any different.
It all started during the Mandela memorial service when Obama snapped the shot with himself, Prime Minister David Cameron and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning Schmidt. As the world realized that Obama was no more grieving the loss of Mandela than he does the soldiers that return in a flag draped coffin, the world went up on arms over the image.
He most recently was caught in a minor scandal after taking a selfie with Boston Red Sox David Ortiz where it was later discovered that the ball player had signed a contract with Samsung to get the photo for a promotional stunt.
In an attempt to help Joe Biden as well, he even snapped one of them in the back of the presidential limo – a photo that funnily enough, has since been dubbed “dumb and dumber.”
So what do you guys think – is it time Obama puts down the cell phone and focuses on his job for once, or will Obama always do what Obama wants to do? Let us know in a comment below.
