A couple claims to have captured a creepy ghostly image in pictures from their trip to a notoriously haunted museum.
John Burnside and his girlfriend Shona Backhouse said that they remember having a “funny feeling” while they toured the Castle Museum in York two years earlier with their son Johnthomas, who was only 18 months old at the time.
It was only after John had found the memory card with the photos in his pajamas at their Wakefield, West Yorkshire home and looked through the pictures that they discovered the eerie white figure of a child lurking within them.
The 27-year-old Mr. Burnside said that seeing the images made him unsettled.
“It’s enough to make you paranoid. It gives me goose bumps every time I think about it.”
The memory card was from his old mobile phone and had been through the wash in his pajamas multiple times, however the images were still kept. Upon reviewing them he found the Victorian-looking child to be in many of the shots.
“It was weird. I didn’t notice anything at first, then I thought I was imagining it. So I asked Shona and she said ‘Yes. It’s a little girl.
“When I phoned my mum she at first thought it might be a little girl that my sister lost, but my dad spotted that the girl in the picture was in Victorian dress.
“I don’t like the idea of ghosts or anything like that. It gives me panic attacks.”
The museum is known for having paranormal activity in it as well. In 2006 a film crew that was working on an episode for Derek Acorah’s “Ghost Towns” show reported hearing the screams of shrill voices and seeing ghostly looking children through the building.
However Burnside said that on the day they were there they didn’t see any such thing.
“There was not a little girl like that on the day at the museum. It was pretty dead there to be honest all through the day. Anyway, it looks like you can see right through her.”
His girlfriend, who’s now 25years old, seems to think that the apparition was following them around the museum since it ever appeared in a picture that was taken outside of the building.
“It is really weird. I never noticed it until other day when we looked through the pictures. But I told John when was at the museum that I had funny feeling and didn’t like it there,” she said.
She also said that there was a room in the building that she wouldn’t even go into because it gave her such an uneasy feeling.
“Our son was around 18 months’ old at the time. I can’t really remember if he sensed anything – but I know I didn’t like it at all though.”
Officials from the museum said that they’re unsure of who the figure might be.
