As we reported earlier today, the situation between a rancher and the U.S. government is becoming quite tense. It appears as if not everyone is on the side of Cliven Bundy, and one County Commissioner has come forward to say that anyone who does, is an inbred b*stard.
The comments actually came from Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins who’s recent comments demonstrates which side of the argument he’s really on. Revealed by Piute County Commissioner Darin Bushman, via Facebook, Collins remarks were less than tasteful.
According to the Facebook post:
I was just told by commissioner Collins of Clark County NV that all of us folks from Utah are a bunch of “inbred bastards” and if we are coming to Clark Cointy (sic) NV to support Cliven Bundy we all “better have funeral plans”. We should “turn our asses around on mind our own f-ing business”. Now there’s some classy leadership for you.
The story was soon picked up by the Las Vegas Review Journal, which prompted yet another post from Collins who shared the article on his page saying, “I guess I’ve made an enemy in Las Vegas.” Collins however seemed none too bothered with his statements going public as he only sought to explain himself further.
According to Collins, his words were meant to express the real danger this situation has in going violent if it is allowed to escalate enough. He further shared, “I’m trying to do everything I can to discourage anybody who tells me they’re coming here with loaded guns. I’m going to tell them not to come.”
Concluding his point, he said, “The Bundys want peace, they don’t want any violence going on so all these gun-packing folks just need to go home.”
Bushman has since come forward to describe the unprofessional exchange he had with Collins saying, “This guy was just off-the-hook weird. I’ve never ran into a fellow commissioner who treated me like that.” Let us know your thoughts on this in a comment below.
