A school was recently thrown into turmoil after a knife wielding suspect began stabbing anyone in his path. Although it is unclear at this time who this person was or why they acted in such a way, the attack resulted in at least 20 injuries, 4 of which were serious in nature.
The attack began around 7:20 a.m. at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, where police were notified that five or six people had been stabbed. That number has since risen to include at least 20 people who had been injured throughout the course of the incident.
All 20 victims fell between the ages of 14 and 17, but not all were reported to have been stabbed or cut. Although the attacker did stab a few people before slicing anyone he could get close enough to, some were hurt during the panic that ensued.
Of those 20 victims, 4 were noted to be quite serious and were flown to local hospitals for treatment of their wounds. Immidiately after the incident, a male suspect – a student – was taken into custody and is currently being questioned.
The school also placed a notification on their bulletin board notifying the public that, “A critical incident has occurred at the high school. All elementary schools are canceled, the middle school and high school students are secure.”
