A video has emerged of Republican Rep. Vance McAllister, who represents Lousiana’s 5th district, making out with and embracing his district scheduler.
The Ouachita Citizen has released the film that they say was obtained from an anonymous source.
It shows McAllister in a hallway kissing and embracing a woman for nearly a minute and a half before they depart the building.
McAllister has been married for over 16 years and he has five children with his wife. He ran in the special election for his position as a devout Christian last fall.
The incident occurred inside his congressional office in Monroe, Louisiana just before 2 p.m. on December 23 of 2013. The woman who’s in the video with him is his district scheduler, Melissa Peacock.
McAllister has shown remorse for the incident and says that he came clean about it to his wife in late January. He also said that he has no plans on resigning unless the people of his district demand he does so, which he said hasn’t happened so far.
He told the News Star that “There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness.” He added that “I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff and my constituents who elected me to serve.
“Trust is something I know has to be earned whether you’re a husband, a father or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed. From day one, I’ve always tried to be an honest man. I ran for Congress to make a difference and not just be another politician.
“I don’t want to make a political statement on this, I would just simply like to say that I’m very sorry for what I’ve done. While I realize I serve the public, I would appreciate the privacy given to my children as we get through this.”
