James Franco,35, is in hot water as he was ousted for soliciting a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. It looks like the fame and fortune has gone to the actor’s head and he’s indulging in some of the “perks” of his status as an A-list celebrity. This time, the perk was an infatuated young girl who has now made Franco’s little mishap public.
The girl, Lucy Clode, is a schoolgirl from Scotland who met Franco after a showing of his Broadway play Of Mice And Men. The two quickly hit it off and a lengthy conversation over text and social media ensued. After much flirting, Clode shared the fact that she was only 17, but that did not seem to deter Franco in the least. He even offered to get a hotel room for the pair to meet up!
The star had his tail between his legs this morning on Live! With Kelly And Michael as he told the pair of hosts that he’s “embarrassed” and feels “awkward” about the whole situation. No doubt. When you try to seduce an under age girl and the whole world finds out, I imagine it does feel embarrassingly awkward.
Franco claims that he’s new to social media, which is partly why this debacle happened. Riiight. Nobody in Hollywood is new to social media. Who does he think he’s fooling? The bottom line is he made a mistake and it wasn’t for anything other than the fact that he had a lapse of judgment. He wouldn’t be the first man to be caught thinking with the wrong head. He would do well to stop making excuses.
Kelly Ripa let Franco off easy, saying that this sort of thing “happens to everybody”. Does that mean she’s guilty of soliciting a relationship with under age boys? Let’s hope not.
Maybe Franco was simply still in character after the filming of his new movie, Palo Alto, in which he plays a high school teacher who seduces a student. You can watch the official trailer below.
Well, I don’t know that I can think of a better publicity stunt than this debacle right before the release of his new flick. Give us your thoughts on all of this in the comments section!
