TMZ sports has released a shocking video that purportedly shows Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice dragging his unconscious fiance out of an elevator in the Revel Casino, then dropping her face first on to the ground. Both Rice and his fiance Janay Palmer have been charged with simple assault in the case.
The police report that was filed said that Rice struck his fiance with his hand, rendering her unconscious however the report also states that she struck him first with her hand.
Rice doesn’t have a history of problems on or off the field.
Robert Gamburg, who represents Palmer, told the Press of Atlantic City that he doesn’t believe that either person committed a crime and Rice’s attorney, Michael Diamondstein said that it was a “very minor physical altercation.”
The NFL is said to be reviewing Rice’s arrest to see if it violates league policy and if so he could face suspension for it.
Neither person went to the hospital for their injuries and police say they’ve handed the case over to the District Attorney’s office.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has the power to discipline players — whether they’ve been convicted or not — through suspensions, fines or ordering them to seek some sort of sensitivity training.
