After Phil Roberson made comments about homosexuality and how his beliefs conflicted with the practice as so dictated by his religion, outrage quickly spread.  However, even more outrage spread as the reality star was suspended after the network A&E thought to minimalize the embarrassment—however, it appears as if, they thought wrong.

Phil Robertson had said in an interview with GQ magazine:

“Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.

It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

After the network declared that they were suspending the star for what they were calling “homophobic” comments, and outpouring of support lead on strong for the Christian family.  The family soon then came out saying that they wouldn’t be able to proceed with the show without their, “patriarch.”

Hitting them right where it hurt, A&E wasn’t faced with the moral choice to support the Constitution, but whether or not to give up their multimillion dollar cash cow.

All in all, it forced the networks hand into bringing Robertson back on the show.

The first episode of season 5 is set to air on A&E tonight at 10 p.m.
