A frenzied attack took place in the home of a religious writer and former journalist. What provoked this attack and brutal stabbing?
A chess move.
Irish detectives were called to the Dublin home early Sunday morning. Tom O’Gorman was found dead with multiple stab wounds. Another man who is believed to be from Italy was arrested on the scene.
A source at the scene said, “It was a very unpleasant scene for our people to walk into. This was a bizarre killing and the dead man sustained substantial injuries to his body.”
The two became violent as a result of a chess move and then things began to spiral out of control from there.
A knife was recovered at the scene and it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the attack. The scene has been completely sealed off for a complete forensic examination.
Very little is still know about the chess game and specifics of the crime and a full investigation is underway. Reactions have already started pouring in on social media though.
Did the news just say they thought a man was stabbed and beaten to death “over a move on a chess board” #Wow

The victim worked at the Iona Institute as a researcher and writer. David Quinn, director of The Iona Institute, said, “On behalf of everyone at The Iona Institute, I would like to express our total shock and deep sorrow at the terrible and untimely death of Tom O’Gorman.”
“Tom was a friend as well as a work colleague to us all.”
