A video has surfaced of an Alabama fan and middle-aged mom, Michelle Prichett diving into a group of young, male Oklahoma fans while in the stands at the Sugar Bowl this weekend.
She begins getting increasingly aggressive and begins bicycle kicking one of the young fans while another man attempts to restrain her. Eventually security personnel arrives and removes her from the stadium.
The video very quickly went viral and accumulated about 1,000,000 views on Youtube within a matter of about 18 hours.
The woman has recently come forward to shed light on her side of the story and what took place before she dove into the crowd of Sooners supporters.
Pritchett says that she started smack talking early in the game and that the group of Sooners fans started trying to fight her 16-year old son. She says that the video makes her look like the bad guy but in reality, a deeper story motivated her actions according to an interview published by YellowHammer.com.
What I did was not the thing to do. But they we’re taunting us. They began by going after me. But then they crossed the line and started taunting my 16-year old son.”
She went over and asked the fans to ‘leave her son out of it.’ Her husband is then seen pulling her away for the first time. Finally, Pritchett snaps when the men started calling her a ‘stupid b****.’ At this point she is seen lunging toward the group of men.
Pritchett believes that security should have kicked the Sooners fans out first. She claims that security had warned then earlier in the game about throwing bottles.
Pritchett has since apologized according to a tweet from one of the men involved in the incident:
@MConnolly4: Just got a phone call and a very sincere apology from Michelle. #BoomerSooner #ShitHappens
After all is said and done though, Pritchett continues to stand by her actions to some extent. ‘I hate to say it, but i’d do it again if I had to. I’m not going to let anyone go after my son.’
