The controversy over Phil Robertson’s suspension by cable TV network A&E has heated up the Internet tubes as millions of Americans jump to their Facebook pages and Twitter feeds, not to mention their blogs and emails, to come to Robertson’s support.
For those of you living under a rock (and for the sake of context for this post), Duck Dynasty TV show star Phil Robertson made some comments about gays that leftists were quite unhappy with. His comments quickly led to his being suspended by the A&E network and now Robertson is off his highly rated TV show.
But the weak spine exhibited by the TV network has been lambasted by conservatives and fans of the Duck Dynasty show. These people have spent the whole day Tweeting, writing, and posting about how they #standwithphilrobertson (or alternately #standwithphil).
Just to mention a few, today we have seen Texas Senator Ted Cruz coming to the Robertson’s support. We have also seen Governor Bobby Jindal, governor of Louisiana, the state in which the Robertsons live, siding with Phil. Sarah Palin also came to Phil Robertson’s support today.
For her part, Palin Tweeted: “Free speech is endangered species; those “intolerants” hatin’ & taking on Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing personal opinion take on us all.”

(edit to add…) Even left-wing, gay blogger Andrew Sullivan Tweeted his “befuddlement” over the suspension of Phil Robertson:
I’m befuddled by A&E's firing of Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson – a reality show character, for Pete’s sake: http://t.co/GE7NiGvoEx

So, what about you? Are you coming to the aid of Phil Robertson? Or do you think he is a man filled with hate and should be fired from his TV show?
