Parents who recently took their children to see a children’s animation were mortified by the events that transpired. Supposedly, there to see the movie Frost, parents got a little more than they bargained for when a R-rated sex scene was placed on the screen.
The incident happened in Florida at Regal Cinemas Park Place Stadium 16 on Friday.
Apparently after sitting in the theater for a while, theater staff informed viewers that they were experiencing technical difficulties. They then told parents that they would put up another film in the mean time to occupy children while they worked out the kinks.
It was at this time that, what looked like, Steamboat Willy–one of the original Mickey Mouse films–was placed for all to see. The thing that happened next has the attending parents puzzled and outraged.
While the substitute film was rolling, it suddenly cut out to reveal what looked like two love birds, hot and heavy, in the middle of a sexually intense scene. Parents tried their best to divert the attention of the children but fought to no avail as theater workers left the scene rolling for a full two minutes.
Lynn Greene, a grandmother who brought her grandchildren to the movies said, “It seemed like forever when you’re trying to, you know, cover a little guy’s eyes.” She added that she unfortunately, “didn’t have enough hands to cover his ears too and he got the sound down real good.”
The theater offered the viewers of mishap free tickets, but parents are still not pleased.
Greene asks, “You’re talking, what, a PG-rated movie to all of a sudden have an R-rated scene up there for little children?” and believes the theater’s apology isn’t enough.
Parents feel that, “that there should be safeguards in place so that this doesn’t happen again.”
What would you do if a theater flashed a sex scene in front of your children? Would you sit there for the whole two minutes while it played out?
