Another teacher has been arrested for sexual misconduct with a student in the Chicago area.
Amber Kraus, 31, has been charged with criminal sexual assault of a victim between the ages of 13 and 17, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Kraus had reportedly been a teacher at Grant High School for over 8 years but has since resigned.
After receiving a tip in September, police opened an investigation that revealed the two had an indecent relationship. Many inappropriate pictures of the two, sent via picture mail, as well as several “I love you,” texts helped put the woman behind bars.
Accusations were made by the 17 year old student that the two had sex in the teacher’s house in Grayslake, IL. The teacher however disputes the claims saying that two had sexual contact, but never participated in sexual intercourse.
The teacher is out on bail and has moved to Mundelein, Illinois where, as per her orders from the court, is not allowed to have any contact with minors, especially the victim, and must abide by a curfew. This effectively ends her teaching career.
If found guilty, Kraus could face up to 22 years in prison.
A letter has been sent out to all parents of the school by the superintendent saying that this was an, “isolated incident that occurred away from campus and involved no other students.”
It seems that lately that we have been hearing about more frequent, sexual crimes being committed by many other teachers from the Chicago area, as well as across the nation.
