Tony Cumberworth is a 73 year-old United States veteran who deeply loves the country he risked his life to fight for. That’s why it came as a devastating blow to him when he was ordered to remove the American flag that is flying in his front yard or receive a fine of $50 for each day that it remains.

“It’s been there 20 years and nobody has ever said a word,” Cumberworth told reporters, according to Conservative Brief, adding that he was given four days to remove the flag.

“First it was ridiculous. Then I got insulted,” he continued. “I fought for this country. My son fought for this country. I do not understand them trying to take away my rights.”

Instead of taking the flag down, Cumberworth instead checked his HOA agreement. He quickly discovered he was breaking new rules by flying the flag, so he brought the story to the mainstream media and it quickly went viral. That’s when the HOA suddenly changed their tune.

“Please disregard the code violation notice,” the message from the HOA read. “It was sent to your home in error. We truly thank you for your service in Vietnam and your American flag can stay in your yard as long as you desire.”

We’re glad to see this veteran was given the justice he deserved! SHARE this story if you think ALL our veterans deserve respect!
