Over the past year, Donald Trump has been tirelessly campaigning for the GOP presidential nomination. That’s why it came as a huge shock this week when he inexplicably halted his campaign and returned home to New York City.

According to Western Journalism, the Trump campaign has announced that they have cancelled a press conference that was set to take place today at Trump’s Los Angeles golf course. They also revealed that Trump will be skipping the Colorado GOP State Convention, which is set to occur this Saturday. Instead, Trump will be focusing on campaigning in New York, which will host it’s GOP primary on April 19.

“Mr. Trump is working extremely hard, both on the campaign, which remains his primary focus, and on the multibillion-dollar company he is still running,” wrote campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks. “Mr. Trump has rescheduled his California trip and will be campaigning in New York. He looks forward to returning to California in the weeks ahead.”

Many are perplexed by this move since Trump is already set to win New York by a landslide. He is predicted to win in his home state by 31 points, while he is only beating Cruz in the crucial state of California by 8 points.

Trump appears to have become increasingly aware of the possibility of a contested convention, since he has expanded the responsibilities of staffer Paul Manafort, who has worked as a lobbyist under multiple presidents. Manafort will now be asked to “oversee, manage, and be responsible for all activities that pertain to Mr. Trump’s delegate process and the Cleveland Convention.”

“The nomination process has reached a point that requires someone familiar with the complexities involved in the final stages,” Trump said in a statement. “I am organizing these responsibilities under someone who has done this job successfully in many campaigns. This will allow the rest of my team to deal with the increasing needs of a national campaign for both the pre-convention phase and most importantly, the general election.”

We can only hope that Trump will continue to dominate the polls, despite taking a step back from the race. SHARE if you are voting Trump!
