Over the summer, someone anonymously posted a video of Canadian woman Alexis Frulling having sex with two men in public. The video quickly went viral, and instead of shying away from the attention, Alexis decided to embrace it.

According to IJ Review, she posted this rebuttal on Youtube, and it has since been viewed over 7 million times.

“I can’t say I’m proud about it,” she said in the video, referring to the threesome. “But I’m not ashamed.”

Alexis told reporters that she never intended for the threesome to be filmed when she engaged in it outside at Calgary’s Stampede Festival, but that somebody who spotted them from a second floor balcony whipped out his camera.

“We meant for this to be just between us and our friend group, but it all backfired,” she said.

When Alexis was asked why she posted a rebuttal, she suggested she wanted to take back control of the situation.

“This is stupid. I’m not going to have all of these people hating on me,” she said. “This isn’t fair. I don’t see why I should get bashed for it when the guys don’t get bashed for it.”

Rebecca Sullivan, head of women’s studies at the University of Calgary, agreed that there’s a double standard of men being praised for their sexual escapades while women are shunned.

“We need to move away from questions about collective conduct and ask what is it about our society that shaming, hating and turning on people online is a form of public entertainment,” she said. “We shouldn’t be discussing whether people should be doing this or not, we should be discussing why it’s OK for everyone to be so abusive.”
