You Won’t Believe Who Just Called Obama A ‘Monkey Man’

A Washington state mayor is under fire this week after it was revealed he had called President Obama a “monkey man” and his wife Michelle a “gorilla face.”

“Gorilla face Michelle, can’t disagree with that,” Patrick Rushing, mayor of Airway Heights, reportedly wrote in a Facebook post. “The woman is not attractive except to monkey man Barack. Check out them ears. LOL.”

The backlash against his comments was swift, and the local city council called for his resignation on Monday.

“When a figurehead makes comments such as these that sets us back and it’s hard to come back from,” said police chief and acting city manager Lee Bennett, according to the Huffington Post.

Rushing, however, has adamantly refused to resign from his post.

“I made a mistake. I owned up to my mistake,” Rushing told the press. “If I do resign that’s admitting I’m a racist and I’m not.”

Rushing added that the comments were simply “playful back and forth banter that my friends and I do.”

Liberal residents of the town, however, disagreed.

“Because I’m black, it’s offensive to me because many times blacks have been compared to a gorilla, a monkey. Some type of animal,” said Airway Heights local Tommy Gilbert. “I’m a joking and jovial person but I know when something is acceptable or not and that is not acceptable under any circumstances.”

After investigating Rushing’s Facebook page, the local news found at least 75 posts that they deemed “offensive.” These included an image saying that both Barack and Michelle should “hang for treason.”

Despite the liberal backlash, it doesn’t look like Rushing is going anywhere anytime soon. Do you think he should resign, or should he stay strong? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
