Tim McGraw Defends His Anti-Gun Concert ‘I’m Leading With My Heart’

Tim McGraw is under fire from his fans after it was recently revealed that he is planning to headline an anti-gun concert in July.

The concert is a gun control fundraiser for the charity Sandy Hook Promise, which claims to benefit the families of the victims of this infamous massacre. However, this week the families of 11 Sandy Hook victims spoke out to say that they are not affiliated with the concert in any way.

The families revealed that Sandy Hook Promise “is at times wrongly assumed to speak for all 26 victims’ families.”

“We wish only to provide clarification for the many generous donors that believe they are directly supporting the families at the center of this tragedy by contributing to the Sandy Hook Promise [organization],” they added.

Despite this and the backlash he received from his fans, McGraw said in an interview Wednesday that he will continue to headline the anti-gun event.

“If I have a decision to lead with my head or my heart, I’m going to lead with my heart every time,” he said as he defended his anti-gun stance.

This is not the first time McGraw has spoken out in support of a liberal agenda. Though he makes his living off the support of conservative country music fans, McGraw is secretly a hardcore Democrat and Obama supporter.

“It’s innate in me to be a blue-dog Democrat. I’m not saying I’m right or wrong, but that’s what I am,” he once told People. “My wife and I and our family will do everything we can to support Obama. I like his ideas, I like his energy, and I like the statement he would make for our country to the world.”

Yikes! I don’t know about you, but I’ll never listen to Tim McGraw music the same way again…
